Requirements

The applicant must meet or exceed the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business administration, project management, or engineering) preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or CAPM highly valued.
  • 3-5+ years of proven project management experience.
  • Leadership and management of cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder interaction.
  • Ability to build and manage high-performing teams, assign tasks, provide guidance, and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficiency in project planning, including defining scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and development of contingency plans.
  • Familiarity with budgeting principles and managing project budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive approach to addressing potential problems or roadblocks.
  • Managing stakeholder expectations and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Adaptability to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies, methodologies, and best practices.

Working Conditions

As a Project Manager with Westco Construction, you hold a critical position in driving the successful execution of various projects. This role demands meticulous planning, coordination, and supervision to ensure the seamless development and completion of construction initiatives. Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, the Project Manager will facilitate effective communication and alignment throughout every phase of the project.

From project initiation and resource allocation to progress monitoring and timely delivery, the Project Manager’s organizational prowess, strategic thinking, and in-depth knowledge of construction practices will be central to overcoming obstacles, making well-judged choices, and ensuring that each project upholds the company’s standards of excellence in the construction domain. With a strong emphasis on customer service, the Project Manager will embody the company’s values by treating each client like family, fostering trust, and delivering results that not only meet but exceed expectations.

Principal Duties

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of various construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and alignment throughout all project phases.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing effective solutions to ensure timely delivery.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address project challenges and uncertainties.
  • Liaise with clients, maintaining a strong emphasis on customer service and cultivating relationships that mirror the company’s family-oriented values.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Continuously evaluate project performance against established goals and KPIs, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • Uphold the company’s reputation for excellence by ensuring all projects meet or exceed quality standards and client expectations.

Responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring your daily work is carried out in a professional and diligent manner as directed by the Director of Project Management and the General Manager.

Reporting

Project Managers report to the Director of Project Management.

Staff Meetings

From time-to-time there will be employee safety and staff meetings which you will be expected to attend.

Authority

In the case of an accident or emergency you have the authority to use company vehicles or equipment as you see fit to provide assistance or support.

Insubordination

Any employees reporting for work under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs shall be sent home immediately. A repeat offence shall be cause for dismissal.
Any employee found to be operating a Westco Construction Ltd owned vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs may face instant dismissal.
Other cases of insubordination, absenteeism, late reporting for work and other unacceptable behaviour shall be dealt with by a verbal warning for first incident, a written warning for the second incident and possible dismissal for subsequent incidents.

Evaluations

All employees, including management staff, are evaluated annually. This evaluation is not a test and is confidential information. The evaluation is a means of measuring improvement and is designed to be positive and helpful in that it shall provide a sounding board and an opportunity to improve company and employee performance.
